Former Issue #1 contributor and all-around constant doer, maker, gypsy, wonder woman, Rebecca Goldschmidt (formerly of Big Big Big Things), recently moved to Tijuana, Mexico to help launch the first Mexican project-site for a community-based photography program for young women based in Los Angeles, Las Fotos Project, with the goal of promoting visual literacy and self & community-empowerment through photography!

Las Fotos Project, a project of Community Partners, is a non-profit, community-based photography program whose mission is to bring about positive change for young Latinas facing adversity. Through one-on-one mentoring, photography trainings, and assigned field projects, Las Fotos Project provides a creative outlet for students, encouraging them to express their artistic talents and explore their imagination, while building self-confidence.

Check out their GoFundMe page to learn more about the project and please consider making a donation–any amount will help us cover materials and expenses for our students. Tijuana is experiencing huge growth right now, especially in the arts, and Rebecca says she is excited to be bringing a program of empowerment, reflection, and community engagement to the youth of la frontera.
